Acorn Squash

Acorn Squash


As the name suggest it resembles an acorn. It is a winter squash with distinctive long ridges on its exterior and a sweet yellow-orange flesh inside. Common variety is dark green on the outside, often with a single kiss of orange on the side or top.

Acorn squash is most commonly baked but can also be microwaved, sautéed, or steamed. They are a good source of dietary fiber and potassium. Another name they are known by: Pepper Squash
